The UMF Honey Association supervises the use of all UMF quality trademarks and supports licensed brands and consumers through comprehensive scientific research programs and other activities, including:

Each batch of honey undergoes independent laboratory testing to ensure its grade
● Scientific proof of origin
Ensure compliance with label honey
● Traceability - from honeycomb to bottle
Each batch can be traced back to the original specific honeycomb
The operational process is reviewed and approved by the New Zealand Department of Primary Industries (MPI)
Production under approved certification

What is Mānuka Honey?
What is Mānuka Honey?
Mānuka honey comes from the nectar of the Leptospermum scoparia flower, which is unique to New Zealand.
It is this type of nectar and bees that endow this honey with unique characteristics.
The nectar produced by Mānuka flowers has unique characteristics and special compounds.
This is a unique type of honey.
It is widely recognized, highly sought after by consumers, and has extensive research support.
Mānuka honey is recognized as a "standard" that cannot be compared to other honey.

The UMF rating system has two components, Both of which will be displayed on any UMF honey product.

This label indicates that it is genuine Mānuka honey

Number
These are unique iconic compounds that ensure the purity and quality of honey. These include the main markers of Leptosperin, dihydroxyacetone (DHA), and methylglyoxal (MGO).
UMFHA Members
More than 100 beekeepers, producers, and exporters are eligible and certified to display the UMF quality trademark on Mānuka honey products.
